UN Convention on BiodiversitySince 2019, CYBN has been invited to attend international meetings informally and apart of the Canadian Delegation, representing Canadian youth voices with oppertunities to attend the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity.

Opportunities in BiodiversityCYBN coordinators hosted online sessions on oppertunities they experienced in biodiversity. Sessions were hosted through Facebook lives and recordings of the videos can be seen through YouTube. Topics covered included Canadian conservation corps, political science and environmental science, youth outreach and engagement, etc.

Forest Bathing: Finding peace and mindfulness in natureChantal Garneau, a forest mediation and mindfulness instructor led CYBN members through a forest bathing session using Instagram. Followers learned the importance of connecting with nature to address mental health issues. The video can still be found on our Instagram.

Wildlife Protections and Biodiversity WebinarCYBN coordinators hosted a webinar for members dedicated to wildlife protection and biodiversity. In the webinar, we discussed important issues involving protection and conservation of wildlife and biodiversity. Positive feedback was received from the webinar.

Post 2020 global biodiversity framework: Youth ConsulationsSince the beginning of 2021, CYBN coordinators planned and held youth consultations for Canada on April 23-24th 2021. The outcome of the consultations would provide a policy report that would be put forward the youth position for Canada and contribute to the youth position internationally.

CYBN coordinators share 10 tips on how to take action for the environment during Earth Hour. These events occurred at the beginning of COVID-19 and there was a huge push for online engagement. Tips included growing herbs, unplugging devices, eating less meat, reducing food waste, etc.

Sustainable Holiday Gift IdeasWith Christmas around the corner, CYBN published a sustainable gift guide through the social media accounts. Each gift comes specifically recommended by coordinators. Some ideas include; beeswax wrap, artisanal soaps and shampoos, reusable straws, etc.
